This year, students will have the opportunity to use storytelling to bring their GIN projects to life and share them with a global audience. Docathon invites students to turn the issues they care about into powerful short films — giving them a platform to inspire understanding, collaboration, and action.
As part of this opportunity, 8 student film groups will be awarded full Docathon scholarships (worth $350 USD per group), providing access to professional training and mentorship in documentary storytelling.
Through Docathon, GIN students will:
🎥 Create a short 3–6 minute documentary linked to a GIN global issue
🌍 Share their story with audiences at the GIN Conference and beyond
🤝 Build skills in communication, collaboration, and changemaking
Scholarship recipients will receive:
Access to a curated storytelling course, learning from leading voices in impactful journalism and storytelling
Mentorship in documentary filmmaking from a professional storyteller — from shaping a clear story to filming and editing with impact
The chance to take on leadership roles and earn leadership credentials linked to storytelling and global citizenship, in partnership with impact-driven organisations
Participation is designed to be inclusive and accessible, and this scholarship opportunity is exclusively available to GIN schools.
