Informal Social Evening at ISL

Thursday 28th March

18.00 - 21.00

Conference participants are invited to an informal GIN Conference Social Evening at the International School of Luxembourg on Thursday 28th March. The Social Evening allows students the chance to get to know each other in more informal surroundings!

The evening starts at 6.00pm with a few words of welcome and an invitation to our participating schools to introduce their group (using a format of their choice - don't be afraid to be creative!). Please see a message about the requirements for this part of the evening from our student organisers below. This ice-breaker is followed by dinner in our cafeteria. Afterwards, students are free to get to know each other in an informal setting. Meanwhile, teachers will have the chance to network over tea and coffee in our teachers' lounge.

Bus transfers will be provided to and from ISL (Youth Hostel and Novotel in Kirchberg).

Our evening concludes at 9.00pm approx.

Timetable:

18:00 Arrival of all schools at ISL (buses from Youth Hostels and Novotel)

18:15 - 19:15 Presentations of the 30 schools will take place in the Auditorium.

19:15 - 20:00 Dinner for all in the cafeteria

20:00 - 21:00 Social/free time for students (activities will include music listening, dancing, playing table tennis and fussball, … and chatting!)

Guidelines for introducing your school team at the GIN Conference Social Evening:

Dear fellow students,

We kindly ask of you to organize a presentation of maximum 2 minutes introducing your school and the country it is from (cultural and traditional aspects.) This can be done through various creative ways such as collaborating to create:

·         A sketch or mini-play

·         Presentations (slideshow with pictures)

·         A mini video

·         A choreographed dance

·         A song

·         A quiz

·         A mini powerpoint

·         Simple speeches

·         Others (be as creative as you want!)

Our focus is to have a variation of multiple presentation types and ideas to create connections amongst students by sharing traditions and different cultures. There will be 30 schools introducing themselves in a total period of an hour. Therefore, presentations must not exceed 2 minutes.

The deadline for response as to which way of presenting your school has chosen is Wednesday, February 27th. If we don’t hear from you, we will allocate you a specific way to introduce yourself. Please reply to the email already circulated to your teachers.

It is recommended that if students are shy or feel uncomfortable speaking in public, to prepare their introduction beforehand for display that night (eg. video, presentation) instead of a live performance.

Thank you for your participation, we are looking forward to meeting you all.

Kind regards,

Your Social Evening Organisers from ISL!
